1230 Las viudas de los jueves (Thursday Night Widows) (126 mins)
Marcelo Piñeyro
Buenos Aires, 2001. In a luxurious closed neighbourhood of exclusive mansions surrounded by beautiful tree-lined gardens inhabited by young families with ideal lives, one morning the corpses of three electrocuted neighbours are found floating in the main pool. The shock caused by the tragedy that seems to be the result of a tragic accident is general, however, the details of the story which occurs in the midst of an economic crisis evidence the opposite and become a social x-ray of an era. 1500 Abzurdah (90 mins)
Daniela Goggi
Abzurdah tells the story of Cielo, an upper-middle class teenager who meets a man nine years older than her through the Internet, with whom she begins a relationship and falls madly in love. Involved in a superficial environment, with no friends and in an adult world which poorly understands the teenage universe, the relationship becomes an obsession for Cielo, a loquacious narrator, who is incisive and vertiginous, and who leads us through an unrequited love story where the option of giving up eating becomes the illusion of a perfect life. 1230 Cronopios y famas (Cronopios and Famas) (86 mins)
Julio Ludueña
The surrealist and fantastical tales that Julio Cortázar wrote about human reality, re-imagined by ten well-known Argentinian artists using advanced animation techniques. Their artistic skill and personal style give each episode a different reality and this aesthetic diversity builds the common narrative universe that goes through the whole movie. The tension between social classes, between the local and the foreign, the popular and the classic, color and black-and- white, the figurative and the abstract, bring back to life the eternal debate between opposites that the imaginary cronopios and famas represent. A movie based on the book published worldwide. More info
1500 Cassandra (90 mins)
Inés de Oliveira Cézar
Are words, photographs and speech sufficient for describing and communicating a complex, harsh, unmanageable reality? These unresolved questions pursue Cassandra during her trip through the impenetrable Chaco as chronicler of a means of communication, her first job after graduating from literature school. The unknown reality of native peoples who live in the Chaco communities, their beautiful and uncomprehensive languages and their dilemmas facing an economy which excludes them, are part of a trip in which Cassandra finds an inhabitable world within her status as foreigner. Her visions start merging with the cosmovision of ancient inhabitants until she becomes part of the enigma herself. More info
