Outgoing Students
Securing Accommodation at the Host University
It is the responsibility of the Erasmus Programme Directors to introduce their students to their opposite number at the chosen host institution and to instigate enquiries as to the availability of accommodation. The Exchange and Study Abroad team writes to inform students that it is their responsibility to apply for accommodation in a timely way at the host institution.
Students occupying Queen's accommodation
It is the responsibility for any student in Queen’s accommodation to discuss with the Accommodation Office if they wish to leave accommodation in order to undertake a study placement. Unless replacements can be found for the rooms, it is possible that students may be liable for the cost of the accommodation during their absence.
Incoming Students
Application
The Exchange and Study Abroad team will send the student an information pack containing information on University Accommodation.
Deposit
All students wishing to live in University accommodation will be required to pay a deposit of £300 before arrival.
Numbers
Every effort is made to ensure that accommodation is given to incoming Erasmus students and a quota of rooms is reserved annually for these students. However, the growth in the number of students wishing to spend a study placement at Queen's has led to pressure on accommodation and may sometimes result in students not being placed in their first choice accommodation.
Conditions
All applications must be made on the official online application form, which normally becomes available in May each year.
Accommodation will only be available on a semester basis i.e. 15 or 16 weeks. If a student wishes to come for a shorter period of time, he/she is liable to pay the rate for the full semester.
In the event of the number of applications exceeding the quota available, priority may be given to incoming students only if there is corresponding outward mobility in the subject.
The closing date for the receipt of applications for accommodation for the first semester is normally around the 1st August. The closing date for students arriving in the second semester is normally around the 1st December.
