These information pages are for Queen's University Belfast staff.
The University holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) enabling Queen’s to participate in the Erasmus+ programme during the period 2014-21. The Charter entitles the University to funding for student mobility grants, and grants for teachers to undertake short Teaching Visits and Student Support Visits.
The Exchange and Study Abroad (Careers, Employability and Skills) team produces and signs off Bilateral Agreements for Erasmus activity which Schools wish to maintain and/or establish. Bilateral agreements are normally renewed for a three year period, instead of annually (although you can still add and discontinue links each year if you wish). The Office produces approximately 150 Bilateral Agreements which must be signed off by Queen’s and each partner university.
Any member of Queen's academic staff who
· wishes to maintain an existing Erasmus link; or
· is planning a new Erasmus link;
should supply details of proposed links to the Exchange and Study Abroad team by following the procedures below.
N.B. Student and Teacher Mobility
The amount of funding we receive is directly related to past performance, and how well we delivered on proposed numbers. Please ensure that your student mobility proposals are balanced and that you make realistic projections for both student and staff mobility. The figure you state should be the number of staff or students to be exchanged during each year. Please note that undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students are eligible to participate in Erasmus.
To Maintain Existing Links
Existing agreements have been signed up to the end of 2016-17. A list of your agreements are available here.
To Establish a New Erasmus link
If you wish to set up a new link, please download and complete a form for each institution you wish to work with:
· Student Mobility
· Teaching Staff Mobility
Student exchanges are expected to be reciprocal. You should only set up agreements with institutions to which you believe there is a realistic chance of sending Queen’s students. Please ensure that you supply all the details requested on the forms. The signature of the Head of School is required in all cases. Completed forms should be returned to the Exchange and Study Abroad team.
Looking for a Partner University?
If you are looking for a new partner, you may wish to consider a member of the Utrecht Network, a European-wide network of 31 universities co-operating in the area of internationalisation. Queen's has been a member of the Utrecht Network since 2001. Please see the following link for more information and a list of members.
For all agreements, please note:
Erasmus Programme Directors are responsible for negotiating the exchange link and its terms with the partner university.
The Exchange and Study Abroad team will not make contact with the partner institutions, except to send them a Bilateral Agreement based on the information you provide.
Once the Bilateral Agreement has been signed by the partner institution, the activity will be included in Queen’s application for funding from the UK National Agency.
Please ensure that your colleague at the partner institution informs the central Erasmus office at that institution of their intention to co-operate with Queen's.
If you have any queries about the process, please contact the Exchange and Study Abroad team (Careers, Employability and Skills) at erasmus@qub.ac.uk.
