1970 Law Reunion

Photograph of the Year reproduced by kind permission of Houston Green Photography

This was the 40th Anniversary of our graduation and we felt that this milestone could not pass unnoticed.  We had held previous Reunions for the 25th and 35th Anniversaries but this year seemed even more significant.

The Law Faculty was much smaller then than now and only between fifty and sixty students graduated in 1970. We were delighted that twenty-two of those graduates attended, together with thirteen partners.  We were particularly pleased that so many travelled from outside Northern Ireland to be at the event.

The Reunion was held on Saturday 12 June and we had a programme of events.  We began with a lunch at Deane’s at Queen’s.  This was followed by a tour of the University including the magnificent new The McClay Library.  In the evening we had an excellent dinner in the Canada Room.  The Canada Room was ideal for our number of diners and we had a memorable evening.  In fact it was so good we plan to have an annual lunch from now on with a dinner every fifth year!

On behalf of the Year I would like to that the staff of the Alumni Office for all their help.  We would particularly thank Brian Horgan and his catering staff for whom nothing ever seemed to be too much bother. I would also thank Shean Dickson Merrick, Solicitors and Botanic Inns for their generous sponsorship.

Could I appeal to anyone who was in the Year but did not receive notice of the Reunion to get in touch through the Alumni Office on 028 9097 3114 and let us have your address so you can be notified of the next event.

If you are interested in organising a reunion please contact Adele McMahon, Events & Reunions Officer.
