On Saturday 25 July 2009, eight of the “year of ‘79” Economics faculty gathered in the “Welly Park” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of graduation from Queen’s.

After getting brief updates about what we were all doing now, we got down to the serious business of recalling lecturers, tutors, fellow student and various undergrad frolics.

Copies of final exam papers were studied although even our combined efforts struggled to find answers! We hadn’t given much thought to Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman, Pareto or the complexities of Perfect Competition, Oligopolies, Engel Functions, etc in 30 years.

We passed round some old photos and the story telling gathered pace over dinner especially as Brian had dug out copies of our graduation programme listing all the graduates and we searched the old grey cells to put faces to the names.

We had a superb evening and hope to encourage more to come to our next reunion in a few years time.
