1991 Law Reunion

The Class of 1991's 20th Law reunion took place on the 30th September 2011

The day commenced with a bus tour of Belfast which was a brilliant "ice-breaker" and re-introduction to the city. We arrived back at QUB at 12.30pm and enjoyed a talk delivered by the brilliant Dr. Stannard of the Law School who spoke to us about the history of Law teaching at the University. This took place in the elegant surroundings of the Canada Room which was a fitting setting for the event, our first reunion in 20 years.

The Alumni office had helped to arrange a finger buffet which followed Dr. Stannard's talk, and this provided a further informal opportunity for people to reacquaint themselves with old friends. The PEC then played host for an afternoon of football for the "boys" while the ladies continued with their catching up in more convivial surroundings.

At 7.30pm the Great Hall was the venue for the highlight of the day - a champagne reception and dinner for 48 people. It was a spectacular success. The food and standard of service was excellent, and all of the guests relaxed into the evening (and a bit later in some cases). All in all a fantastic day in every way.

Tips for anyone thinking of organising a class reunion:

Start early - I gave guests a full year's notice. Get email addresses from intending guests and keep in touch with them regularly. Bring together a committee. Establishing a Face Book page with group access was a great way of keeping the interest going in the event as it went through its various stages of planning.
