Linda is owner of Wee Wonders. She launched her company in April 2010 to provide baby and toddler activity classes and birthday entertainment. She already has a large client base that is building daily through word of mouth.

What made you decide to set up your own business? |
AS A MUM I WANTED TO SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH MY CHILDREN AS WELL AS CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY TO THE HOUSEHOLD INCOME. |

What has been your biggest challenge so far?
|
FINDING ENOUGH TIME TO SPEND ON THE BUSINESS WHILE ALSO LOOKING AFTER MY THREE-YEAR-OLD AND NINE-MONTH-OLD GIRLS FULL-TIME. |

What has been your biggest success or triumph so far? |
THE POSITIVITY FROM THE PARENTS WHO HAVE ATTENDED THE CLASSES AND HAVE IMMEDIATELY SIGNED UP FOR THE NEXT SESSIONS. |

How do you feel your time at Queen's prepared you for this venture?

AS AN ARTS STUDENT YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY SELF- MOTIVATED TO COMPLETE THE WORK AS THERE ISN'T AS MUCH CLASS OR TUITION TIME AS IN SOME OF THE OTHER SUBJECTS. IT IS THE SAME WHEN OWNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS AS THE ONUS IS ON YOU TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF AND SUCCEED. NO-ONE ELSE IS GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU! |

What advice would you give someone considering starting a business? |
HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOUR OWN ABILITIES BUT DON'T BE AFRAID TO SEEK ADVICE FROM OTHERS. |

What is your next ambition?

TO BUILD UP THE BUSINESS SO WEE WONDERS IS A HOUSEHOLD NAME AND HOPEFULLY BE IN A POSITION TO FRANCHISE IT OUT WITHIN TWO YEARS. |

ALTHOUGH I HAVE ONLY STARTED MY COMPANY WEE WONDERS THIS YEAR I HAD BEEN PART OF A FRANCHISE HULLABLOO KIDS FOR THE PREVIOUS TWO YEARS TO GAIN EXPERIENCE BEFORE BRANCHING OUT ON MY OWN. |
