What made you decide to set up your own business?
Having the opportunity to drive forward your own company and to take it where you want is a good feeling. Having the control to make the decisions is something that has always appealed to me. |
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Coming from an engineering background, facing sales forecasts, financial plans and marketing mixes can, at first, be daunting. It is important to realise that there is support to help overcome this and develop your business acumen. |
What has been your biggest success or triumph so far? |
Winning the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Business Concept Challenge 2010, Virginia, USA. |
How do you feel your time at Queen's prepared you for this venture?
Queen's provided me with an opportunity to develop my technical skills during my course. Getting involved with extra curricular activities helped me develop my knowledge of business. Queen's was also helpful in meeting the right people who could help me develop my business and myself personally. |
What advice would you give someone considering starting a business?
You need to know more about your business than anyone else. You must know your product, your market and your competition. In business, I believe knowledge is the key to success. |
What is your next ambition?
Launching our own business has really given me the business bug. To sell the product on a global market would open up a lot of opportunities for us, so that is the next target. |
