Postgraduate Studentship Opportunities in the Arts and Humanities

AHRC Studentships

There has never been a better time to undertake postgraduate study in the Arts and Humanities at Queen’s with AHRC studentship opportunities for 2012-13 now available in a number of Schools - just follow the links to the School websites to find out more.

In 2009 Queen’s was successful in securing five years’ funding from the AHRC Block Grant Partnership (BGP) programme for studentships across a range of subject areas in the Arts and Humanities.  Three cohorts of excellent PhD and Master’s students have already been recruited and Queen’s is currently seeking to recruit to the fourth year of funding.

AHRC studentships are now available to support quality research training for Doctoral (PhD) and Research Preparation Master’s degrees starting in October 2012.  All of the areas set out in the table below are eligible for Doctoral studentships and Master’s studentships are available in areas indicated with an asterisk*.  Please note studentships may not be awarded in all of the eligible areas listed below.

How to apply

Applications are invited electronically at https://dap.qub.ac.uk/portal/user/u_login.php.   Please check the relevant School websites for their specific funding application deadline dates, normally February/March.  Whilst completing your application for admission to a PhD (i.e. postgraduate research), under the section “Applying for Funding” please tick the option "I wish to be considered for any funding administered by Queen’s”; when applying for a Master’s (i.e. postgraduate taught) under the “Funding Your Studies” section please tick the option “I hope to obtain funding for my studies” and indicate AHRC as the funding source.  Please note that if you have already made an application for admission for 2012-13 entry, you should now inform the relevant School that you wish to be considered for an AHRC award; you do not need to complete another admission application.
