Professor Haifeng Wang

Professor Haifeng Wang
Professor in Electrical Engineering and Research Director of the Electric Power and Energy Systems Research Cluster,

Professor Haifeng Wang graduated from the Southeast University, Nanjing, China. He joined Queen’s University in September 2007. He received the award of outstanding young scientist from the Natural Science Foundation of China in 2002.

His major research interests are modelling, analysis and control of power systems considering renewable power generation and applications of advanced power electronics technology.

Dr Kang Li

Dr Kang Li
Reader in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Dr Kang Li graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1995 with a PhD Degree in Automatic Control. He joined Queen’s University in 1998.

Dr Li’s main research area covers Automatic Control and Bio-inspired Computational Intelligence, with applications to power generation plants, environmental monitoring, food safety, and bio-medical engineering. He has participated in over 20 funded projects, including the most recent UK-China Science Bridge Project on Sustainable Energy and Built Environment funded by the Research Councils UK.

Dr Quan Gan

Dr Quan Gan
Senior Lecturer in Biochemical Engineering in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

Dr Quan graduated from Jiangnan University in 1985. He joined Queen’s University as a lecturer in 1996.

His main research interests are in membrane sciences, ionic liquids for catalysis and gas separation, nanotechnology for drug delivery, biomaterials for tissue engineering. Dr Quan has extensive teaching experience, and has held responsibility for the School Postgraduate Research Committee and as Course Director for MSc in Process Engineering.

Dr Yun Bai

Dr Yun Bai
Lecturer in Civil Engineering

Dr Yun Bai was born in Ningxia, China in 1971. He graduated from Chongqing University (former Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering) in 1993. In 2007, Dr Bai joined Queen’s University as a Lecturer in Civil Engineering. He has been sponsored by UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering for promoting research exchange between UK and China.

Dr Bai comments: “Queen’s is a place where you can work with world-leading researchers in your area, which has benefited my career development.”

Dr Tianbao Chen

Dr Tianbao Chen
Academic in the School of Pharmacy

Dr Tianbao Chen originally came from Fujian Province, China. He graduated from Fuzhou University in 1991 and joined Queen’s University in 2004.

Dr Chen comments: “I’ve been enjoying my last five years living and working in Belfast. I love the high quality natural environment and mild climate in Northern Ireland, and the local people are remarkably nice and friendly. However, what has attracted me even more is the strong and rigorous academic atmosphere, and the excellent environment for international collaboration development in Queen’s University Belfast – the only Russell Group university in Northern Ireland.”

Dr Yu Xiong

Dr Yu Xiong
Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management

 Dr Yu Xiong was born in Chongqing, China in 1981. He graduated from Chongqing University, China and gained a PhD at Nottingham Trent University before joining Queen’s.  His research interests are supply chain management, china-related studies and innovation management. Dr. Yu Xiong is the founder/director of Organising Committee for the influential 21st Century China UK Entrepreneurship Competition, supported by both the UK and China governments. He has won a number of honours from Chinese Provincial/Ministry level government; one was presented by the former Chinese ambassador, Madam Fu Ying.  He is a board member of Chongqing Youth Federation, a provincial level government think tank organization.
