Ajith is in his first year of a PhD at Queen’s researching Urban Sustainability Issues in Chennai. He is originally from Ottappalam, Kerala.
“I decided to come to Queen’s as it has one of the best-established, highly-regarded Geography departments in the UK. I was searching for a place of study which had a strong mix of both human and physical geographies and Queen’s became the natural choice. As a student, I have the opportunity to develop professional skills under the mentorship of internationally-renowned Faculty members, who are also involved in policy-making, capacity-building and international development. The levels of teaching and research at Queen’s are excellent. The University is oriented towards self-learning through structured discussions and strategic training. Focus here is on skills-development and promoting critical and independent thinking. Queen’s focuses strongly on investing in knowledge for social advancement.
