Queen’s has teamed up with a number of key Malaysian figures to deliver a series of public lectures at the University.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Tan Sir Dr Augustine Ong Soon Hock, Chairman of the International Society for Fat Research (ISF) and President of the Malaysian Oil Scientists’ and Technologists’ Association.
The next Malaysia lecture at Queen’s will be delivered by Datuk Rafiah Salim on Friday 11 June 2010. A law graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, Professor Salim has held a number of eminent positions including Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya, and Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resource Management with the United Nations.
In 2006, Queen’s conferred on her an honorary doctorate during a visit to Malaysia led by the Queen’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Gregson.
