Taught Master’s Degrees

Master's degrees are available across a very wide range of subjects. You may register for a Master’s degree if you are a graduate of an approved University in the UK or abroad. If you are not a graduate you may still be admitted, provided that you hold a professional or other qualification which the University deems to be the equivalent of a degree. The normal entrance requirement for a Master’s degree is a Second Class Honours Degree from a UK university or its equivalent.

You may study for a Master’s degree by taught coursework over a period of not less than one calendar year on a full-time basis, or not less than two calendar years on a part-time basis.

Use the Course Finder to obtain more information on the subjects of interest to you.

Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates

Researcher at Queen's

The University offers postgraduate study for diplomas and certificates in a wide range of subjects. You may be admitted for these qualifications if you are a graduate of an approved university in the United Kingdom or abroad, or if you hold professional or other qualifications which the University considers to be the equivalent of a degree.

Full-time students must attend the University for a period of not less than one academic year: two years for a part-time course.

It may be possible for a student to transfer registration from a postgraduate diploma to a Master’s degree after the written examination at the end of diploma coursework or, alternatively, after completing the diploma.

New postgraduate students are invited to attend Welcome Programme events, held early in October and to enrol on the Postgraduate Skills Training Programme, aimed at providing you with the skills you need to complete your research degree – and enhance your employability.
