There are different dates for your son or daughter to be aware of when making an application for undergraduate study and waiting for decisions.
September 2011: UCAS starts processing 2012 applications.
15 October 2011: UCAS deadline for medicine and dentistry applications. For all other courses, students are advised to apply as early as possible.
October 2011 – April 2012: Queen’s makes decisions on all applications. Students who haven’t received any offers or have declined all offers can apply through the UCAS Extra scheme from 24 February 2012.

15 January 2012: UCAS main scheme application deadline.
February – June 2012: Applications open for Student Finance support from www.slc.co.uk
9 May 2012: If UCAS receive all decisions from universities/colleges by 31 March, replies to any offers must be made by 9 May (unless students live outside the EU or are applying through Extra). If UCAS don't receive replies, they will decline the offers.
10 May 2012: For students who applied by 15 January and are waiting for decisions, universities and colleges need to send UCAS their decisions by this date. If they don't, UCAS will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
May 2012: Accommodation applications open. Visit www.stayatqueens.com for more details.
May – June 2012: Your son or daughter should check with their GP about having vaccinations for meningitis/mumps, etc before going to university.
7 June 2012: The reply date for all offers if UCAS received decisions from universities/colleges by 10 May, If UCAS don't receive replies, they will decline the offers.
30 June 2012: Final deadline for all UCAS applications, subject to availability on courses. Any applications received after this date will be entered into Clearing.
July 2012: Queen’s accommodation Open Days take place throughout this month. Visit www.stayatqueens.com for more details.
4 July 2012: This is the last date for students to apply through the UCAS Extra scheme.
19 July 2012:For students who applied by 30 June and are waiting for decisions, universities and colleges need to send UCAS their decisions by this date. If they don't, UCAS will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
26 July 2012: If UCAS receive all decisions from universities/colleges by 19 July, replies to any offers must be made by 26 July (this includes applications through Extra). If UCAS don't receive replies, they will decline the offers.
August 2012: Examination results are published. Clearing opens for unsuccessful applicants.
September 2012: Welcome packs are sent out to those who have received confirmation of a place at Queen’s.
17 – 22 September 2012: Welcome Week – a week dedicated to helping new students settle in, find their way around and learn what they need to know to be successful in their studies.
